Heart Attack – Now No Longer a Distress

1. The most herculean Medicine: Food

I have personally followed a plant based diet for years now and it has done wonders to me. I would like to share few basic tips that could script a new beginning in your life. One thing that is worth mentioning here is for those who are skeptical about their age related to this barrier, age has nothing to do with this.

Be it 90 or 30 or even 20, you can follow it blindly. All we need is compassion and exuberating self- confidence to fight against this disease.

a. Have at least 5 cups of veggies a day.

It has been observed that some people are unshackled from the blind dependence that they tend to put on weight if they eat frequently. However the irony is that having eight or more servings a day would reduce the risk of this barrier by 30%as compared to those who consume one and a half servings or fewer. So it is recommended that you have at least 5 cups of fruits and vegetables a day. Let me mention here you can opt for berries – any berries like strawberries, blueberries, blackberries. These are excellent choices. For people who are simply bored of having fruits and vegetables on a daily basis- just chop them and prepare a green-based juice (with the fruits) in a blender. Believe me you will feel mint fresh.

b. Say Goodbye to monotonous life and make a welcome comeback

Our life style has undergone a sea change in the last few decades. Daily routine thrives primarily on sedentary work. Many of us would be surprised to learn that almost 75% are likely to develop metabolic syndrome, a cluster of problems that raise heart disease risk. So stop being a sederholmite and practice as much physical activity as you can. Design an Itinerary of small bouts of physical activity each day and do keep yourself motivated engage in some household chores.Walk as much as you can. As we all know that “Walking is a man’s best medicine”. In addition to this, going out for a brisk walk early in the morning while listening to bird’s chirp against the backdrop of a sunrise is in itself an exhilarating experience. You will feel energized and this also increases production of happy hormones. After all a happy heart is a healthy heart.

c. Make daily dose of this nutrient mandatory in your routine: “YOGA”

Empower your life with streaming yoga practices. Patients who are victim of the most prevalent heart rhythm perturbation- atrial fibrillation, practiced yoga for three months had fewer episodes. Many experts have reported that people who exercise daily even for 20 minutes, had lower resting heart rate and blood pressure compared to those who didn’t do the exercise.

So friends gear up yourself to make sure that you do not suffer from this disease or else be ready to face the music.

“What’s the world for if you can’t make it up the way you want it to be”.

4 Tips On Creating Your Healthy Eating Plan

To be healthy, the first and most important steps are to accept that you need to make changes to your present lifestyle and eating habits. Once you understand that, the next step is to come out with an action plan to follow.

This action plan should be based upon your personal fitness goals.

Implementing this plan is an important step in your journey towards fitness and health.

By making your goals concrete will help you to be more motivated and sticking to your plan.

Create your personal healthy eating plan by following the 4 tips given below;

1. Be realistic in setting your goals

Do not make the common mistake of setting unreasonable and difficult goals for yourself. Once you are unable to reach your goals, you will feel discouraged and might even give up on your diet plan.

Be more realistic when setting up your goals but that does not mean making it easy for yourself.

Example:

If you work long hours, you cannot expect to cook healthy meals all the time.

When creating your goals, think about all this details. Decide exactly how much weight and amount of fat you want to lose. Make them reasonable, neither too easy to achieve nor too difficult to attain.

It is difficult to accurately determine your body fat percentage without using expensive medical equipment, it is better to monitor your change in body fat or muscle with measurements.

Before you start your healthy eating and exercising plan, record the measurements of your waist, hips, thigh and upper arm. And check them again every two weeks or so to monitor your progress.

It is also difficult to accurately determine your caloric needs without using medical equipment. To be sure how much you should be consuming, consult a professional or your personal trainer.

2. Proceed gradually

After you have developed your goals, implement the changes gradually.

Example:

Your goal is to stop your habit of eating chocolate with munching on carrots or bananas. But do not cut off your chocolate completely from the first day of your diet plan.

Think on how to gradually reduce the amount of chocolates you eat. This will prevent you from your irresistible cravings.

Eating foods that are both healthy and yummy, encourage you to follow through with your plan. Prevents mindless eating by taking your time when eating and enjoy every bite of the food you eat, helps you realize when you are full.

3. Be honest to yourself

Whenever you concede to your cravings, be honest about it.

Admit that you have eaten things you were trying to avoid and make the effort to make up for it in your next meal. Your integrity helps to cover up for times when you conceded to your craving in foods you had decided not to eat.

It can help you to monitor what you eat everyday and be accountable to your diet plan can also help you to stay on course with your diet.

4. Snacking on healthy foods

Munching on snack between meals help to increase your metabolism but ensures that the snacks you eat are healthy. They help you burn more calories and keep you from overeating.

Snacking on healthy foods also gives you a constant supply of energy throughout the day.

Coming out with an eating plan can take time.

Follow the 4 tips given above to reduce your planning time and by using the ideas to help you create and stick to this plan.

After you have perfected it and vigorously sticking to your healthy diet plan, you will reap the benefits that come with eating a healthy diet.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Alternative Medicine

There are reasons why people chose alternative medicine and reasons why they avoid it, preferring conventional medicine. Alternative medicine is safer than standard health treatments and usually works. It’s true that it can’t be used in severe conditions like car accidents or other severe emergencies, but be that as it may, there are enough situations in which alternative medicine is recommended. When it comes to emotional and spiritual needs, non-conventional medicine may come up with the solution. Furthermore, it’s better for preventing illnesses than standard medicine. More and more physicians nowadays agree upon the benefits of alternative medicine and also even advise their clients to choose the best natural treatment for them.

One of the advantages of alternative medicine is that it encompasses a broad range of therapies, treatments and products, thus the search for obtaining positive results doesn’t flow on a narrow path at all.

A pretty important disadvantage states the idea that, even though the expenses of using acupuncture or chiropractic are sometimes covered by health insurances, the majority of alternative treatments are not reimbursed.

There are certain risks that come along with the usage of natural remedies. Despite the use of herbs throughout the years and even ancient times, not all of them have been studied regarding their safety and efficiency. There are issues concerning their purity and their possible interaction with other substances related to conventional therapies. The majority of information regarding herbs have been perpetuated throughout history and with the help of tradition. Many people assume that herbal medicines are better than synthetic drugs simply because, well, they are natural and not synthetic, therefore present no risk. But they are not risk free; they can do more harm than good if taken without having the details of their effects over the body.

People might abuse of natural medicines the same way as they do it in the case of synthetic drugs. They have the misconception that if unconventional medicine consists of herbal products which are natural, then there is no harm done if they triple the dosage or more. This is totally wrong and can have serious consequences. Take vitamins for example. They are just vitamins, right? They can’t possibly do any damage inside the body. But they do. Vitamin overdosing or vitamin toxicity can lead to unpleasant effects depending on the vitamin that has been taken one too many times. Vitamin A over dosage can cause liver problems, osteoporosis, hair loss and other dangerous effects and Hypervitaminosis D leads to dehydration, vomiting, anorexia and even kidney stones.

An advantage of using herbal remedies concerns the effectiveness related with chronic health issues that don’t respond well or even at all to traditional medicines. If long term medication is needed, then herbs are pretty much safer than conventional drugs. The alternative medicine industry takes advantage from this and keeps evolving and developing due to the constant need for natural remedies.

Another advantage is the low cost of herbal products compared to synthetic drugs which are highly priced for the simple reason that researching and testing the products is expensive. Furthermore, herbal products can be bought without a prescription and are easy to procure. The availability of natural remedies is outstanding; chamomile for example can be easily picked out from a nearby field.

The advantages of using herbal medicines are numerous, but so are the disadvantages. The best idea would be to consider modern medicine according to the severity of the illness, to consult a physician upon the proper medication and dosage and if you do chose the alternative medicine, try to gather enough information upon both kinds of treatments, natural or synthetic, so you may reassure yourself that you took the right decision to balance your health situation.

Colloidal Silver Products – Natural Alternatives to Antibiotics?

Thanks to eye opening research and a growing demand for natural alternatives to antibiotics, we now have reliable choices to combat viruses and bacterial infections.

It appears a primary alternative for antibiotics are colloidal silver products. In the many choices of colloidal silver product’s one leads: The New Silver Solution.

Are All Colloidal Silver Products The Same?

The New Silver Solution holds multiple patents and is the only colloidal silver product of its kind that has been issued a patent in the past eighty years. Of all colloidal silver products The New Silver Solution has a “sister” product (a more concentrated version) that has been approved by the EPA as a hospital disinfectant. Additionally, it is the only one of all colloidal silver products that has received homeopathic drug approval from some African countries.

Independent Testing

Many independent studies have been performed on the New Silver Solution. Dr. Ron Leavitt PhD from Brigham Young University concluded that a person would have to drink more than 30 quarts of Silver Solution each day before they experienced any negative side effects. The Average daily dose is 1 – 2 teaspoons per day.

An international testing laboratory, NAMSA, performed a test on lab rats that equated to that of a 200 lb. human consuming four 8oz. bottles at one time. This is between 100 and 200 times the regular dose. The test concluded there was no evidence of toxicity in the rats.

Known Side Effects?

Additionally, after marketed for years and taken by thousands of people with well over a million bottles sold, there are no documented reports of negative side effects resulting from taking The New Silver Solution.

Now let’s compare some of the common side effects of conventional antibiotics.

o Diarrhea, mild to severe

o Rashes

o Anaphylactic Shock

o Yeast Infections

o Negative Drug Interactions

o Decreased Effectiveness of Birth Control Pills

o Misuse Resulting in Antibiotic Effectiveness

Common Uses of Colloidal Silver Products

While clinically proven to kill over 650 known bacteria and viruses, some of the more common illnesses and ailments where Silver Solution will benefit us as natural alternatives to antibiotics are:

o Abdominal Pain & Diarrhea

o Bronchitis

o Cold Sores

o Ear Aches & Infections

o Flu

o Food poisoning

o Sinus Infection

o Sore Throat

o Tooth Decay

o Vaginal Yeast Infection

The New Silver Solution Gel is proven very effective in healing or curing:

Burns (from radiation to sunburn)

Cuts and Wounds

Insect Bits

An Added Benefit

An added benefit of using colloidal silver products is that they do not kill the helpful bacterial in our intestines.

A common negative side effect of conventional antibiotics is they wipe out the good helpful bacteria in our large intestines. Healthy bacteria produce B vitamins and folic acid. They also compete with bad bacteria and yeast to eliminate infection. When antibiotics wipe out the good bacteria, our immune system is weakened and thus vulnerable to super infections, like MRSA.

The Best Choice For An Alternative to Antibiotics

If you are among the many people who are looking for natural alternatives to antibiotics, then a colloidal silver product might be just the answer you have been searching for. The New Silver Solution is safe, non-toxic, and has been clinically proven to kill hundreds of strains of bacteria and viruses with no known side effects.

The Pros and Cons of the Sonoma Diet!

Can you imagine yourself basking in the sun while enjoying a plate full of fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean meats? In between each portion of food or meal you are sipping a glass of fine wine, aware of your location surrounded by hikers, bikers, and small slopes scattered with olive trees?

Well, whether you can or not this is the scenario offered by one of the latest diet programs available. The Sonoma Diet by Dr. Connie Gutterson is a Weight Loss Plan that promotes the healthy flavourful eating style of the Mediterranean and Sonoma Valley, California. However is all this self-promotion, self-marketing illusions to attract customers, or will does it actually work?

This article answers this question by detailing the Pro’s & Con’s within the Sonoma Diet to help prospective dieters determine whether the program will suit them.

The Sonoma Diet:

Pros

– SIMPLE:

The Sonoma Diet is extremely simple for dieters to use. There are no formulas to calculate as with the Weight Watchers Program, and no counting grams or calories daily. Rather plate and bowl sizes are used for portion control.

– EMPHASISE THE POSITIVE:

The emphasis of the Sonoma Diet Program is on what you do eat rather than what you cannot eat. Although the program does still have a list of forbidden foods that dieters are supposed to avoid.

– SAVOR THE FOOD:

There is focus within the Sonoma Diet on eating slower and savouring food. This is punctuated by healthy use of fine wines with meals after the initial 10-day period. By using tasteful recipes meals are enjoyed, and by slowing down dieters prevent over-eating.

– NUTRITION:

The Sonoma Diet has a strong nutritional component, promoting dieters eating a number of phytonutrients and antioxidants. This is key for the diet as it is based on nutrition not starvation. The dieter remains healthy and keeps their metabolism rate at an effective level.

– WHOLE FOOD EMPHASIS:

Emphasising wholefoods in the diet and very few processed foods helps dieters with health gains as well as weight loss.

– STRUCTURED DIET

There are definitely several weight loss programs and diets out there that lack a prescribed structure for their participants to follow. One of the Sonoma Diet’s strong points is their step-by-step guidance, however this is obviously a personal choice of each individual.

The Sonoma Diet:

Cons

– LACKS FLEXIBILITY

An analysis of the diet proves that majority of Wave 1 menus only offer around 950-1100 calories for women, and 1050-1300 for the men. Once you get to Wave 2 diets are only given an extra 200-300 calories. Now while this is going to be effective in weight loss, it is difficult for people to live by. People will be starving within the first week and over a long term this isn’t sustainable for most dieters.

– LACK OF GUIDANCE WHEN HUNGRY

Given the hunger levels that some may experience during the Sonoma Diet there is a lack of instruction on what to do and what to eat when hungry.

– LIMITED SIZES, PARTICULARLY VEGETABLES

Compared to most other diets, the Sonoma Diet has a extremely controlled volume of food, particularly when it comes to vegetables. The lack of vegetables available may be unintended but people will generally experience a shock when it comes to the amount of food they can consume when sticking with the portion sizes of the Sonoma Diet.

– FORBIDDEN FOODS

By emphasising wholefoods the Sonoma Diet is doing a great job at providing dieters with nutrients. However the number of forbidden foods doesn’t leave dieters with that many alternatives or substitutes in terms of sugars, fats, etc. This may be difficult for dieters to handle.

– LACK OF CARBS IN WAVE 1

In many diets the risk of carb crash exists. However the Sonoma Diet is designed as a low carb diet and has no means for managing this risk, which may occur in the diets first phase, Wave 1.

In concluding it is clear that the Sonoma Diet offers both positives and negatives for potential dieters. It is important for each individual dieter to way up these issues in terms of their own personality and make a decision that suits them personally. If you like a structured diet with a focus on flavours, health and well being then the Sonoma Diet is for you. However if you need a greater level of flexibility and food consumption an alternative might be recommended.

Factors to Consider When Buying Pet Food

First-time pet owners are always at a loss when it is time to buy the right food for their beloved pet. Going to a pet food store can be very overwhelming and confusing, especially when you try to look for the best food at the best price. If you have recently acquired a new pet, here are some helpful tips you can consider when buying their food.

Money-Saving Tips For Buying Pet Food

  1. Buy high quality pet food. It is crucial to buy high quality food from the start. This will help you save money in the future. You have to understand that health problems are typically related to poor nutrition due to low-quality or inappropriate food.
  2. Avoid free feeding your pet. This means that you must avoid leaving lots of food out for your pet. Re-fill their bowl only when it runs out. In doing so, your pet won’t become obese and you will save money by having to buy less food.
  3. Check your pet store’s promos and freebies. For instance, if you purchase 10 bags of food from a certain store, you will get one bag free if you are a member. You can also check the ads for coupons.

Buying Pet Food: What To Consider

Pet’s Age: It is crucial to provide the right food for your pet that is appropriate for their life stage.

Health History: You must be aware of your pet’s health history; thus, regular veterinarian visit is crucial. For instance, if your pet is allergic to certain food and ingredients, you need to avoid buying pet food that contains the said ingredients. In addition, if your pet suffers from a medical condition, his vet might recommend a special diet.

Body Condition: If your pet is overweight, he might need a special diet with a different nutrition than a pet that is underweight. If he is in good shape, you will need to maintain their good health and condition.

Preference: It is also crucial to take into account their preferences. Your furry friend might prefer dry food, or wet food, or a mixture of both.

Food Ingredients: You need to check the ingredients used to create the pet food. For instance, if you have a cat, you will need to purchase food that is high in protein, and one with amino acids and fatty acids. In addition, it must have the right combination of minerals and vitamins.

If you want to make sure that your beloved companion animal gets the best nutrition, you can ask your vet for recommendations. He can recommend a particular brand to help you make a decision. Remember though that your pet will ultimately make the decision.

The Super Sex Diet

Want to have great mind, mind blowing sex? Then change your diet, balance your hormones and cur out the stress for longer, lasting orgasms. These days, despite all the tips and tricks for long lasting sex, the bedroom still lacks sizzle, leaving us frustrated and bored in our romantic relationships. Either we’re too tired, have lost our libidos, or have got stuck in a rut or boring routine, which makes sex with our partner a chore.

A poor sex life can be caused by hormonal problems, such as a thyroid condition, or because of the effects of the menopause/andropause which deplete and cause an imbalance of sex hormones. But lifestyle factors, such as eating poorly, smoking, drinking too much alcohol, stress and lack of exercise, can also have a massive impact on the general health and the hormones.

People who have lots of sex in their relationships had something else in common: their diet. All of them were eating extremely nutritious food. Good nutrition is essential for the healthy production of hormones which maintain the libido and allow for regular and fulfilling sexual activity.

The Super Sex Diet, an optimal nutrition, rather than a weight loss plan – which, when combined with regular exercise (and, if necessary, balancing natural hormones) should ensure that you not only have regular, great sex – just like you did in your youth – but you should stay looking and feeling younger too.

– Optimal nutrition. By far the biggest sexual organ is the brain, which produces the chemicals and hormones that trigger feelings of love and attraction, arousal and orgasm. We need to make sure we’re eating the right foods to ensure the production of these chemicals and hormones.

– Neurotransmitters, such as Dopamine, is essential for good sex because they increase the communication between the neurons, which create emotional feelings, stimulate thoughts and trigger memories. Dopamine stimulates the area of the brain connected to self-gratification and pleasure. Eating food, and drinking small amounts of alcohol increase the dopamine levels – one of the reasons that going out for a romantic meal as a couple is often a precursor to sex.

Foods to make your brain produce more neurotransmitters:

– Amino Acids, which are converted into pleasure-givers, Dopamine and Noradrenaline. Found in red meat, poultry, oily fish rich in Omega 3 (e.g. tuna, mackerel), eggs, cottage cheese, beans, peas and milk.

– Watermelon: contain vitamins A, B6 and C, which are important for the production of Dopamine.

– Make sure you get enough choline, which builds neurotransmitters that pass electrical impulses between the brain cells, increasing the speed of the response to your sexual stimulus. Opt for egg yolks and liver.

To boost your sex hormones:

Caressing and touching each other leads to the production of pheromones, sexual fragrances produced by the sweat glands. They help to create a state of arousal and intense sexual desire. The hormones responsible for these are the oestrogens, which are present in both men and women, testosterone, also in both men and women, and DHEA, which is just found in women. So, to ensure the production of pheromones, we need to eat foods which increase the production of these hormones:

DHEA – Animal protein and fat are the key here. Avoid dairy food. Spices and salty food make the adrenal glands work more efficiently to produce more DHEA. Eat: cod liver oil, spinach, rocket, watercress, parsley, salmon, eggs, lobster, oysters, anchovies

Oestrogens – Protein and healthy fats are essential. Avoid excessive amounts of fiber (like brown bread), caffeine and smoking, which can reduce oestrogen levels. Eat: lean beef, lamb, eggs, duck, tuna, halibut, salmon, tuna.

Testosterone – Essential for sex drive in men and women. Avoid coffee and alcohol, which reduce the efficacy of testosterone. Eat: beef, lamb, duck, cod-liver oil, prawns, salmon.

Stamina – For good sex, you need stamina and energy. Your body needs good levels of cortisol, thyroid hormones and growth hormones.

To boost cortisol, avoid coffee, refined sugars, alcohol and smoking, and try to reduce your stress levels – a good way to do this is to give each other a massage before sex or have a warm bath together with jasmine oil. Eat: animal proteins and healthy fats: beef, lamb, pork, chicken, duck, eggs, anchovies, cod, tuna, oysters, clams.

Human growth hormone (HGH) increases sexual desire and provides the stamina and energy needed for a sexual marathon. To increase production, eat organic protein from beef, fish, and chicken. Eat root vegetables and low sugar fruits e.g. berries. Avoid pulses and cereals and refined sugars.

Thyroid hormones are important for increasing the libido and maintaining energy. To work, the thyroid needs iodine. Foods to eat: kelp, seaweed, oysters, clams, tuna.

Avoid dairy products, cakes, biscuits, vinegar, hard cheese, white bread, flour, yeast and dry fruits. They all increase fermentation yeast growth and slow down the hormones. Avoid junk food and opt for freshly grown, organic vegetables and meats whenever possible. Don’t have too many “goitrogenic” foods, such as brussel sprouts, broccoli, cabbage, because they slow down the thyroid.

Not many people know that what we eat ultimately affects our performance between the sheets. Far from a strict calorie counting diet (that starves you of essential nutrients for breath taking sex) the Super Sex diet will pump up your dwindling libido.

10 Foods to Avoid With Eczema

There are some foods to avoid with eczema, and this is at all cost. If you want to prevent the condition or just try to avoid worsening it, you have to learn what not to include in your diet. The world is full with millions of different types of food, but certain medical conditions like eczema would narrow down those that you should eat.

It’s common knowledge that a person’s diet plays a role in the overall health of that person. You are what you eat, and what you eat every day could definitely define the kind of life that you’d be leading years from now. If you want to prevent eczema, you need to make sure that you do not eat the worst triggers of the disease. And so without further ado, here are the 10 foods to avoid with eczema:

1. A fruit that has a high acidic content is a no-no when it comes to preventing the skin disease. Studies have confirmed that citrus acids are triggers of the disease, and are one of the worst ones at that. There is such a thing as too much fruit especially to eczema sufferers, and these people could have bouts of eczema from eating even the smallest amounts of citric acid. Strawberries, blueberries, lemons, tomatoes, prunes and plums should be avoided.

2. Certain herbs should be avoided too. Many herbs have sweating and faster heart rates as side effects, and both of these aren’t good for people with eczema. Specifically, try to avoid herbs that are considered as aphrodisiacs. Ginseng and yohimbe are good examples of these herbs to avoid.

3. Milk, cheese, butter and all other dairy products could trigger eczema, as studies have confirmed. Those who are allergic to dairy products, especially cow’s milk, have higher chances of being prone to eczema too. Lactose intolerance is also a likely culprit. However, you might want to make sure that it is healthy for you to not take anything dairy, as they are the most common sources of vitamin D and calcium. Talk to your doctor about dairy intake and eczema, and find out if there are other alternatives.

4. Acidic fruits aren’t the only kind of fruits to avoid. Did you know that a fresh fruit could trigger allergies, which could then lead to a bout of eczema? It isn’t too rare for someone to experience eczema symptoms after the consumption of a fresh fruit, and the main reason behind this is in fact the pollens from the fruit. Pollens are allergens and they could affect more people than you might think.

5. Refined carbohydrates increase blood sugar. This means that the blood would have fewer places for nutrients. Taking excessively sweet foods increase eczema symptoms. Examples of these foods are maple syrup, pasta, jam, cakes, and many others. It is recommended that people prepare these things at home. Better yet, replace them with healthier foods such as vegetables and fruits.

6. Allergens are most likely causes of eczema. Whatever might cause an allergic reaction might cause or aggravate eczema too. This means that nuts should be one of the 10 foods to avoid with eczema. Nut allergy is one of the most common allergies in the world, and it affects millions of Americans. Though children could be born with it, around 20% of them would outgrow the allergy and it wouldn’t have any effect on them for life. However, nut allergy is also considered a very serious allergy, since it is one of the most common allergies to cause death all over the world. Tree nuts such as almonds and hazelnuts are to be avoided.

7. Wheat bread isn’t good for a person with eczema, because wheat is actually a rare allergen. As by-products of wheat can easily become airborne, they could easily be ingested as well as inhaled. Look at the ingredients and the contents of a food product before buying it.

8. Food preservatives can worsen eczema. This means that you might want to stay away from processed and prepackaged food products. Benzoates, glutamates, sulfites, chemical additives and food coloring are triggers of eczema. It would be very difficult to avoid these food additives, and preparing food at home can help you avoid these triggers. Look for alternatives for better taste on your foods.

9. Some of the 10 foods to avoid with eczema are those with saturated fats. These fats could increase cholesterol and blood pressure. Having higher heart rates isn’t good for a person suffering from eczema, and the substance itself promotes the scaling and the inflammation of the already affected patches of skin. Animal meats are sources of these saturated fats, and some of these meats are also processed, which gives you all the more reason to avoid them. Bacons, hotdogs and sausages are known to have high saturated fat content, along with healthy servings of food preservatives.

10. Because some people are highly allergic to seafood, it is highly recommended that it should be avoided too. Shellfishes like crabs, shrimps and lobsters are known to induce swelling in the mouth and throat, the inability or the lessened ability to breathe, as well as minor to major skin irritations and inflammations.

Eczema is a skin condition characterized by itchy rashes that look like thick scales. There could be pain when the rashes turn into crusting and oozing blisters. It can cause pain in mild cases, but severe cases would be painful and severely discomforting. Curing it could be simple, but it has been said, time and time again, that preventing something is always better than curing it. The most common type of eczema is atopic eczema, and it is a chronic disease that might relapse for a long time, only to flare-up again at the slightest irritant or trigger. Because of this, there are certain foods that an eczema-prone person should avoid. These 10 foods to avoid with eczema should be avoided no matter what, as they are known to set off discomforting, dangerous and deadly allergic attacks.

Heart Health and Clean Arteries

Clogged arteries are responsible for a number of ailments including heart pain, high blood pressure, and peripheral arterial disease. Many of my male patients are shocked when I tell them that plaque build-up may even be causing their erectile dysfunction. How can that be? All of these conditions stem from the same cause, insufficient blood flow through arteries.

In the first part of this series, you learned how coronary artery disease and blocked arteries could lead to serious health consequences. I recommended some non-drug, non-surgical treatments you can do on your own to both prevent and improve arterial disease and its symptoms.

Now I’d like to expand on an alternative method of dissolving plaque and increasing blood flow in arteries using specific vitamins and safe chemical compounds. This therapy is called oral chelation.

What Is Chelation Therapy?

Chelation therapy has been used since about 1955 for treating heart/arterial disease. The idea of using chelation for heart disease sprang from using chelation for toxic lead, arsenic, and mercury levels. A compound called calcium disodium EDTA, an amino acid, binds to those metals. The EDTA-bound metal is then removed from your body through urination.

Using this toxic metal removal model, it was thought that a variation of the same compound, disodium EDTA, would bind to plaque and remove it from arteries. Based on this same principle, oral chelation formulas were created.

Oral Chelation Supplements

People have taken oral chelation supplements for years as an alternative treatment for coronary artery disease. In fact, because of their widespread use, the National Institute of Health recently began a clinical study to document the specific benefits of chelation therapy.

As I tell my patients who ask me about oral chelation formulas, I feel the better ones contain a lot of heart/artery-health promoting vitamins, minerals, and food-derived chemicals that can be of benefit in promoting heart and artery health. Let’s look, then, at what I think a good oral chelation supplement might contain:

B-Vitamins – like B6, B12, and folic acid, known to be crucial to heart health in reducing homocysteine, a chemical that promotes plaque. They also maintain energy.

Magnesium, potassium, selenium – these are heart-healthy minerals that keep heart muscle functioning correctly, regulate heartbeat, and prevent cholesterol from oxidizing and turning into plaque.

Bromelain, malic acid, garlic – these food-based compounds from pineapples, green apples, and garlic dissolve saturated fats and prevent them from hardening into plaques.

TMG (trimethylglycine) – also known as betaine, derived from beets, this chemical IS actually FDA-approved for treating high homocysteine levels.

EDTA – as noted above, this chemical binds to arterial plaque and removes it. EDTA is also FDA, and USDA, approved as a food additive.

NAC (N-acetyl cysteine) – a chemical found in high protein foods, it is an amino acid that, like EDTA, also acts as a toxin binding/removal agent.

How Does Oral Chelation Work?

Oral chelation formulas come in pill form and are taken like you would any other supplement. They go to work by binding to mineral deposits (namely calcium which plaque is), breaking it down and liquefying it so it can be removed from your arteries. Drinking plenty of filtered water daily will help flush the chelated minerals and toxins out of your blood.

It’s a good idea not to take any mineral supplements until a few hours after you take a chelation formula as the minerals can be chelated out of your system. Prescription medicine should also be taken a few hours apart from chelation supplements.

Vitamin C and Vitamin E supplements should be taken as they are antioxidants which help prevent oxidation of cholesterol into plaques.

Benefits of Oral Chelation Formulas

There are several arterial health conditions which can benefit from the artery-flushing effects of oral chelation. They are:

Coronary artery disease, or CAD – blockages in the heart can cause heart attack.

Peripheral arterial disease, or PAD – lack of blood flow to legs and feet causing pain.

Erectile dysfunction – resulting from blocked arteries, lack of penile blood flow.

Carotid artery disease – decreased blood flow to the brain, can cause stroke.

Although oral chelation therapy may still be a controversial subject, it has its following of loyal supporters. According to Everyday Health, a recent survey of people who used chelation therapy, 62% said it gave them a sense of control over their heart disease. For optimum effectiveness, chelation supplements should be combined with a heart/artery healthy diet, no smoking, and beneficial exercise.

As with any supplement, read labels and be sure you have a quality oral chelation formula with ingredients such as those mentioned above. Consult a doctor familiar with the use of oral chelation formulas. They can monitor you, ensure their correct usage, and avoid any possible adverse effects that may arise.
